Mental Health and Neurodiversity

It is our belief that minds are diverse, and not disordered. Therefore, each mind needs to be supported differently. We work with individuals of all ages including children, adolescents, adults, and families.

Anxiety

Anxiety is a  valid human experience that affects people in different ways. We view anxiety from a neurodiversity-affirming perspective, recognizing that everyone's anxiety is unique to them. There are various types of anxiety including Social, Obsessive-Compulsive, Separation, and General. Anxiety can show up as overthinking, intrusive thoughts, persistent worries, and negative self-belief, and it's important to acknowledge and accept these emotions without judgment or shame.

ADHD

Understanding ADHD is the first step towards embracing your true self. At Divergent Minds, we recognise the broad spectrum of ADHD, which involves differences in executive functioning, attention, focus, and hyperactivity. Our approach is centered on self-acceptance and utilising your strengths, so you can achieve your goals. We offer a range of services that support people with ADHD and promote their overall well-being.

Depression

We understand the devastating impact depression can have on individuals and their families. When someone is struggling with low mood, it can be difficult for them to see a way forward. They may feel worthless, hopeless, and alone. Our goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment where individuals can explore their emotions and develop effective coping skills to improve their mental health.

Autism

At Divergent Minds, we believe in a neurodiversity affirming paradigm for working with Autistic individuals. Our approach is focused on self-understanding and acceptance in order to foster self-advocacy. We offer a range of resources and therapies to support Autistic individuals and their families. We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for everyone we work with.

Trauma

Trauma can occur for a variety of reasons, and it can have a profound impact on an individual's mental health. We believe that everyone deserves access to effective treatment options, which is why we specialize in a therapy called EMDR. This evidence-based treatment has been shown to be highly effective for reducing the symptoms of trauma and helping individuals heal from the effects of traumatic experiences.

Eating Disorder

Eating disorders, such as restricting food, purging and bingeing, can take a toll on our physical health, mental health and relationships. At Divergent Minds, we offer a range of effective treatment options and techniques that help clients move forward in a healthy and productive manner. Our approach is not just about healing a patient’s mind and soul but also focuses on strengthening their physical health. We will be with you every step of the way, providing you with the guidance and support you need to overcome your eating disorder.

Body Image

At Divergent Minds, we understand the importance of mental health and wellbeing, especially when it comes to issues with body image. It can be difficult to break free from negative thought patterns and speech, which is why we offer a safe and supportive space for individuals to express their feelings and work through their concerns. We provide personalized therapy to help individuals address the root causes of their body image issues and learn coping mechanisms to use in their daily lives.
