What is the Assessment Process at Divergent Minds Therapy?

For children:
There is one initial session with the parent, for the psychologist to obtain a full developmental background and history interview. In this session, the parents and the psychologist discuss the reason for the assessment and what they are looking for. Then, there is a compulsory session with the child for the psychologist to meet the child, determine whether an assessment is necessary, and discuss with the child (in an age appropriate manner) what the assessment process is. Afterwards the psychologist sends the necessary questionnaires, scales, and the assessment is booked. Once the assessment is completed, there is a compulsory feedback session with the parents, whereby the psychologist explains the results to the parents (and if applicable, the diagnosis). There is also a compulsory feedback session with the child in order for them to understand their diagnosis and what this means for them (i.e. how it influences their home life, academics, and so on).

For adults:
There is one initial session with the adult where the psychologist obtains a full developmental background and history interview, and discuss the purpose of the assessment, and what they are looking for. Then the psychologist sends the questionnaires and the assessment process begins. Once the assessment is completed, there is a compulsory feedback session whereby the psychologist explains the results.
